Press Conference: City of San Diego Announces Vision Zero Improvements with Councilmember Ward and Advocates
Circulate San Diego, Councilmember Chris Ward, and advocates will join the City of San Diego on Wednesday in announcing a commitment to Vision Zero projects in FY 2019. In 2015, Mayor Faulconer committed to Vision Zero, the goal of ending all traffic deaths by 2025. The FY 2019 Proposed Budget will be released on Friday, April 13th.

Joining the Board

I’ve been participating in my local Community Planning Group (CPG), the North Park Planning Committee (NPPC), for several years. Starting next month, I’ll be up at the table rather than in the audience.

Attending several of Circulate’s “How to Join Your Community Planning Group” forums helped me muster the confidence to run for the board and pick up some practical tips. Speaking to current CPG members gave me a better idea of how to get the word out and what to expect if I was successfully elected.

Man Killed in Hit and Run

SAN DIEGO (March 22, 2018) – A 59-year-old man was in the roadway on the 1300 block of West Washington Street early this morning.  At 12:24 A.M, the driver hit the man and fled the scene, according to the San Diego Police Department’s Watch Commander’s Log. The man died on the scene.

Letter: Comments on Amendments and Addition to the State CEQA Guidelines on the Evaluation of Transportation Impacts

Circulate San Diego signed on to a letter providing comments on the CEQA evaluation of transportation impacts. With other states looking to California as they consider similar changes to environmental laws, it is critical to get these guidelines right to set a good precedent for the rest of the nation.

MOVE Alliance Certified Town and Country Project Approved at City Council

SAN DIEGO (March 21, 2018) – The San Diego City Council approved the Town and Country project yesterday, a sustainable, infill, transit-oriented development project with important bicycle and pedestrian features. The Lowe Enterprises project earned the MOVE Alliance certification, a program that certifies smart growth projects in San Diego that is operated by Circulate San Diego.

SAN DIEGO (March 16, 2018) – A 48-year-old woman crossing Fordham Street in Midway was struck in a hit and run last night.  At 11:41 P.M, the driver hit the woman while turning onto Fordham Street and fled the scene, leaving her on the street with serious injuries.

Letter: Response to Delay and Cost Increase for Downtown Mobility Plan Cycle Tracks

Colin Parent, Executive Director and General Counsel, wrote a letter sharing Circulate's disappointment in the reported delay and cost increase for the Downtown Mobility Plan cycle tracks. The letter also expresses hope that action be taken to ensure protected bicycle facilities be installed using low cost temporary materials across the entire network within three years from the Plan’s adoption in 2016, as promised by Mayor Faulconer.
