About the walk

This 1.11-mile walk down Maine St in the historic district and around Lake Lindo through the park takes you to where Lakeside history began. In 1887 the El Cajon Land Company subdivided and laid out Lakeside’s town site (including Lake Lindo) as a public park and built the Lakeside Inn. At one time an auto speedway circled the lake and many famous race drivers participated there, including Barney Oldfield in his well-known “Green Dragon”. There are sidewalk through the downtown and manicured pathways around the lake that are dog and wheel chair friendly.
