Chula Vista City Council to Vote on Adopting Vision Zero
SAN DIEGO (March 17, 2020) – The City of Chula Vista City Council will consider adopting Vision Zero at its hearing today. Vision Zero is the goal of ending all traffic fatalities and serious injuries for people walking, bicycling, driving, and any other form of transportation. Circulate San Diego will be available throughout the day for in-person or phone interviews in English or Spanish.

What: Circulate San Diego released our Vision Zero in South County report a year ago with recommendations for how to make streets safer in South County, including adopting Vision Zero. Today, Circulate will be urging the City Council to adopt Vision Zero with a timeline for accomplishing zero fatalities and serious injuries.
The concept behind Vision Zero is that traffic deaths are preventable – through safe street design, education, and enforcement. The program has been successful in other U.S. and European cities. To date, over 20 cities across the U.S. have adopted a Vision Zero goal, including the City of San Diego, the City of Imperial Beach, and the City of La Mesa.
