Press and Photo Release: Circulate San Diego Releases Vision Zero Report for East County with East County Elected Officials

Land use and Transportation think tank Circulate San Diego today was joined by East County elected leaders and safe street supporters to release a report detailing how East County cities can save lives by implementing Vision Zero strategies.

Circulate’s new report, “Vision Zero in East County: Eliminating Traffic Deaths in East County San Diego,” includes recommendations for how the East County cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and Santee can prevent traffic fatalities and serious injuries on their streets. Crash data includes intersections and corridors with highest number of bicycle and pedestrian crashes and total crashes and deaths annually for each city from 2008 to 2018.

The following elected officials and advocates joined Circulate San Diego in support of safe streets for all:

  • Hon. Jennifer Mendoza, City of Lemon Grove
  • Hon. Colin Parent, City of La Mesa
  • Andy Hanshaw, San Diego County Bicycle Coalition
  • Megan Gietzen, Childhood Obesity Initiative
  • Maya Rosas, Circulate San Diego

“Every city can do more to make streets safe and save lives,” said Maya Rosas, Director of Policy for Circulate San Diego. Rosas also co-authored the report “Vision Zero in East County: Eliminating Traffic Deaths in East County San Diego.”
