'Vertical City' Receives MOVE Alliance Certification
7th & Market Brings Hotel, Grocery, Housing, & More to East Village
SAN DIEGO (October 19, 2015) The MOVE Alliance is pleased to announce the certification of 7th & Market, the proposed Cisterra Development mixed use project in East Village. This innovative project will provide residential, retail, commercial office, hotel, grocery store, and public park space in one city block in the East Village.
“7th & Market will provide a place for people to live, work, relax, play, dine, and shop in this walkable, bikeable, and transit-oriented area,” said Jim Stone, Executive Director of Circulate San Diego, the parent organization of MOVE Alliance.
Residents, shoppers, and hotel guests will have access to high quality transit with the Park and Market Trolley Station four blocks away, and a bus stop with multiple routes across the street. The Whole Foods in the building will provide a grocery store for residents and guests of 7th & Market as well as for all of East Village, helping to minimize car trips for groceries.
7th & Market incorporates not only market rate rental and for sale housing, it will also include 15% of its units as affordable housing and will incorporate a remodel of the Clermont Hotel, an historic SRO on the property. The "Vertical City" will provide 262 residential units and 153 hotel rooms. This mix of housing options and the small public park within a compact city block will contribute to the vibrant and growing East Village community.
7th & Market is a mixed use, compact, and innovative project in the walkable, bikeable, and transit-oriented East Village. For these reasons, the MOVE Alliance is proud to certify the Cisterra Development project.
