Continuing work with the Downtown San Diego Partnership!

Circulate is excited to be continuing work with the Downtown San Diego Partnership as we begin two mobility assessments in the Columbia and City Center neighborhoods of Downtown San Diego. In 2019, Circulate completed a Mobility Assessment and Recommendations Report for the Cortez neighborhood of Downtown San Diego, and a similar report will be created for Columbia and City Center.

Over the next couple of months, Circulate will be working with the Partnership, the neighborhood organizations, and residents to conduct the mobility assessments and provide recommendations for how to create more walkable and bikeable environments for all users.

Honoring Black History Month and Bicycling

Circulate wants to help honor Black History Month by recognizing stories about black bicyclists who made a significant impact on history. We also want to share the fun and educational BIPOC History Ride in San Diego. This ride brings together residents of all ages and backgrounds while demonstrating techniques to ride safely.

Let’s Walk More This Month For Our Hearts!

February is American Heart Month! We encourage everyone to increase their physical activity this month, and all year long. Walking is a great way to break up your screen time and improve mental and physical health. Here are some walking tips from the Mayo Clinic to get you moving!

Consider Your Technique

  • Your head is up. You're looking forward, not at the ground
  • Your neck, shoulders and back are relaxed, not stiffly upright
  • You're swinging your arms freely with a slight bend in your elbows. A little pumping with your arms is OK.
  • Your stomach muscles are slightly tightened and your back is straight, not arched forward or backward
  • You're walking smoothly, rolling your foot from heel to toe

Stay Motivated

  • Set yourself up for success. Start with a simple goal, such as, "I'll take a 5- or 10-minute walk during my lunch break."
  • Find specific times for walks
  • Vary your routine. If you walk outdoors, plan several different routes for variety
  • Walk in safe, well-lit locations
