Circulate joins Mayor Gloria to release “Homes For All of Us'” Housing Package

This week Circulate San Diego’s staff participated in Mayor Todd Gloria’s press conference announcing his “Homes For All of Us” housing package.

Mayor Gloria’s press release also quoted our Executive Director and General Counsel Colin Parent, saying:

Mayor Gloria's comprehensive set of city-wide housing policies are exactly what the City of San Diego needs to become more affordable for people at all income levels.

The package includes a diversity of policies to allow for more homes, to create permanent affordability, and to focus development near transit.

Of note, the package is structured around city-wide and programmatic reforms. These follow the strategies by Circulates’s 2017 Report “Transit Oriented Development” , and the academic article published by our Executive Director titled “City-Wide: A strategy for Sustainable Growth” . As those publications argue, approaching housing policy on a city-wide basis will make reforms easier to adopt, and will have a large impact for future housing.

The New 30th Street Bike Lanes

Have you seen the new 30th Street protected bike lanes in North Park? Over the next week, we will be sharing graphics to help educate residents on how to use the new bike lanes.

This sneak peek covers ‘Floating Parking,’ which uses parked cars as a buffer between bicyclists and car traffic. Floating parking improves pedestrian and bicyclist safety while maintain on-street parking.
