Media Advisory - Circulate San Diego to Host #TransitTuesday Airport Ride and Tour with MTS and San Diego Airport Authority

Circulate San Diego, MTS, San Diego Airport Authority, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown San Diego Partnership have partnered to bring Fly the 992, a unique event focused on public transportation to the San Diego International Airport. The event will include lunch, MTS Elevate 2020 programming, a transit ride on a new zero-emissions bus to the airport along the 992 airport bus route, and a tour by San Diego Airport Authority Staff.

What: 25 guests, including the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, Mayor of National City, City of San Diego, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown San Diego Partnership, will attend a unique event focused on existing and future public transportation to the San Diego International Airport. 

The event includes a brief program with speakers from MTS and the San Diego Airport Authority. Discussion will focus on proposed projects included in the MTS Elevate 2020 ballot measure and future transportation improvements for the San Diego International Airport. Circulate San Diego will lead a transit ride on a new zero-emissions bus along route 992. San Diego Airport Authority will lead a guided tour focused on the EIR, Terminal 1 improvements, and the on-airport circulation road currently serving the Rental Car Center buses and by 2020 will serve the Old Town shuttle bus service connecting to the Old Town Transit Center.

This specific event is part of a SANDAG and the City of San Diego program, called Move Free SD, which focuses on creating unique encouragement activities to engage residents in alternative transportation options. Circulate San Diego has led four other Transit for Fun encouragement events focused on generating new transit riders who reside or work in Transit Priority Areas.
