Explore the Shore a Special Month-long Biking Event for All-Ages

SAN DIEGO (April 1, 2021) – Today Circulate San Diego, in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety, launched Explore the Shore, a month-long, self-guided bicycle event for all-ages.

Explore the Shore is a month-long biking event in April 2021 along the Bayshore Bikeway (BSBW), one of San Diego’s safest, longest, and most scenic bikeways. Different than other Bayshore events, the intent of this event is to integrate communities around the Bayshore into the biking experience.

So grab a friend, a family member, or enjoy the ride as a solo activity - there is something to see and experience for everyone. The Bayshore Bikeway is a 24-mile bicycle circuit with 13 miles of car-free bicycle paths and a number of scenic highlights. The Explore the Shore route is customizable, allowing all ages and abilities to have a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience.

Register today at circulatesd.org/explore_the_shore.

Be sure to visit and snap a selfie at one of two “Selfie Ledges” along the San Diego side of the Bayshore. A selfie ledge is a temporary interactive installation that holds one phone at a time allowing a person to take a hands-free photo of themselves or a group with a scenic background.  Selfie Ledges can be found at the Tuna Harbor on the Embarcadero and at Broadway Pier near W. Broadway and the Ferry Landing. More details can be found here.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
