About the walk
This ½ mile walk along Broadway and through the surrounding neighborhood is great for a few minutes of exercise or a quick stroll to run some errands. A variety of shopping options are offered along this route and it’s conveniently located near the Orange Line Trolley.

Lakeside Historic Lindo Lake Walk
About the walk
This 1.11-mile walk down Maine St in the historic district and around Lake Lindo through the park takes you to where Lakeside history began. In 1887 the El Cajon Land Company subdivided and laid out Lakeside’s town site (including Lake Lindo) as a public park and built the Lakeside Inn. At one time an auto speedway circled the lake and many famous race drivers participated there, including Barney Oldfield in his well-known “Green Dragon”. There are sidewalk through the downtown and manicured pathways around the lake that are dog and wheel chair friendly.

La Mesa Historic Rail Walk
About the walk
The La Mesa Historic Rail Walk through the city's new Civic Center and historic downtown is 1.2 miles long with level sidewalks that will transport you back to a time when antiques, mom and pop businesses, and classic cars were a way of life. A favorite destination of San Diegans for the past 100 years, enjoy the small town feel with great cafes enveloped in street art and murals. See the Central Congregational Church pipe organ donated in 1930 in memory of Henry Porter at a cost of $6,500. See the plaque on the Wolfe Building at 3rd and La Mesa Blvd. and learn the Flying A Studios history of Allan Dwan who directed 150 films in La Mesa and then directed Lon Chaney Sr., Shirley Temple and later The Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), with John Wayne at Camp Pendleton. This route consists of sidewalks and civic pathways, good signage, and is dog and wheel chair friendly.

The La Mesa Historic Porter Hill Walk in historic Downtown La Mesa is 1.2 miles long with level sidewalks and will transport you back in time when antiques, mom and pop businesses, and classic cars were a way of life. A favorite destination for San Diegans, residents for the past 100 years have enjoyed the small town feel, great cafes, street art, and murals. See the Central Congregational Church pipe organ donated in 1930 in memory of Henry Porter at a cost of $6,500. See the plaque on the Wolfe Building at 3rd and La Mesa Blvd. and learn the Flying A Studios history of Allan Dwan, who directed 150 films in La Mesa. Dwan later directed greats such as Lon Chaney Sr., Shirley Temple, and was the director of The Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) with John Wayne (filmed at Camp Pendleton). If you schedule the walk Thursday night, Classic Car Night begins at 6pm during the summer. This route consist of pathways, a few stairs with slight incline and some missing sidewalk.

La Jolla Bird Rock Scenic Walk

Visit Bird Rock to enjoy a stroll down La Jolla Blvd, a main street thought of by many to have a small beach town feel. Your walk begins at Calumet Park, where you can take pleasure in the coastal bluff views of the Pacific Ocean and possibly spot the reason why this area got its name. Look for a large white rock out in the ocean with several birds resting there; this is why they call it Bird Rock. La Jolla Blvd is a great place for an urban walk to stop and grab some coffee or lunch while staying active. Before you return, you will stop by La Hermosa Park, a pocket park with beach access, where you can take a rest or just appreciate the spectacular views. The Imperial Beach Scenic Pier Walk along the beach and Seacoast Drive is a 1.5 mile stroll through the heart of downtown and along the ocean. Enjoy this beach community’s small town feel and great urban design features with decorative crosswalks, street art, murals and the Imperial Beach gateway sign that enhances the pier entrance. Stop by one of the local shops or great dining options to satisfy your needs today or remember your favorites for some other occasion. The route consists of beach sand, neighborhood sidewalks, the Imperial Beach Pier, and park pathways.

About the walk
The Escondido Civic Center Walk is a 1 mile loop in the heart of Escondido’s downtown civic core. The area is home to Escondido’s City Hall and the California Center for the Arts, both exemplary examples of state of the art architectural design. Come experience the beauty of the “City of Choice”, where you can visit the California Center for the Arts, Escondido History Center, Grape Day Park, City Hall, Public Library and the Maple Street Pedestrian Plaza.
This route consists of primarily downtown sidewalks, park pathways, and Maple Street Plaza. Make sure to check the business hours if you plan on stopping at any of the points of interest.

About the walk
This walk along the city’s old Historic Route 395 is a 1.6-mile loop in historic downtown. The Grand Avenue corridor is a great place to enjoy locals’ favorite cafés and the Maple Street Pedestrian Plaza. If you’re looking for a meal or beverage made from locally grown or organic produce this is the walk for you. Make sure to stop by one of the delicous cafes to try a delicious hand-crafted beverage, a creamy fresh gelato, or a healthy organic whole food meal. Destinations along the walk include EscoGelato, Kettle Coffee and Tea, Swami’s Café, and the Maple Street Pedestrian Plaza.
This route consists of primarily main street sidewalks. Make sure to check the business hours if you plan on stopping at any of the points of interest.

Encinitas Bar and Grill Walk
About the walk
The Encinitas Bar and Grill Walk along South Coast Highway 101 is a 1.5-mile loop in the midst of hip bars and restaurants. The Encinitas main street corridor offers places to relax, catch up, and enjoy the coastal breeze. Destinations along the walk are the D Street Bar and Grill, the Encinitas Bier Garden, the Lumberyard Tavern, Union Kitchen and Tap and Beachside Bar & Grill.
Make sure to check the business hours provided below. This route consists of main street sidewalks so be sure to cross at I Street when headed to the fifth location (the Union Kitchen and Tap). There is no pedestrian sidewalk on the east side from I to K Street.

El Cajon Downtown Civic Walk
About the walk
Enjoy an easy 1 mile walk along El Cajon’s pedestrian path that links the Public Safety Center Complex, Performing Arts Center, Ronald Reagan Community Center and the Public Library. As you stroll on an urban pathway toward W Main Street you will see the Performing Arts Center Duck Pond, one of the community’s hidden gems, on your left. Make sure to take a minute to enjoy the peaceful environment. Just across the street you’ll begin your journey down El Cajon’s event haven, Prescott Promenade, in the heart of Downtown. This walk consists of sidewalks, the Civic Center Complex pathway, and Prescott Promenade.
