The bill would require city and county governments to properly plan for housing needs as set forth by the Department of Housing and Community Development in their Regional Housing Needs Assessment Determination.

Following a press conference organized by land use and transportation think tank Circulate San Diego, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Board voted to accept the state’s housing need determination, a first in SANDAG’s history. The vote to accept the housing determination, instead of negotiating a lower number, is a bold demonstration of the San Diego region’s leadership in addressing the housing crisis.

Hit and Run Injures Man in Crosswalk

SAN DIEGO (May 30, 2018) – A 51-year-old man crossing 47th Street in a crosswalks in the Chollas View neighborhood was struck in a hit and run last night.  At 8:04 P.M, the driver hit the man, in the illuminated crosswalk at Hartley Street, according to the San Diego Police Department’s Watch Commander’s Log.

San Diego Pushes Back on Boardwalk Scooter Ban

SAN DIEGO (May 22, 2018) – This afternoon, the San Diego City Council refused to pass a temporary ban on motorized scooters on the Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, and La Jolla Shores Boardwalks. Since the introduction of dockless bike and scooter share earlier this year, San Diegans have begun to use active transportation more than ever before. Circulate San Diego supports the use of dockless bike and scooter share as a form of transportation and spoke at City Council in opposition to the proposed ban.

Letter: Draft Middle Income Bonus Regulations – SGLU Hearing, May 21, 2018

Circulate wrote a letter in support of the proposed Middle Income Bonus Program, which was heard at the Smart Growth and Land Use Committee on May 21st. Circulate’s advocacy shaped the current proposal to make it more compatible with the existing and successful affordable homes bonus program. Circulate recommends changes to the draft, to ensure the program advances the cause of affordability for all income levels.
