Just Two Senior Saturday Events Left! Join Us May 14th!
Join us in National City’s Kimball Park tomorrow, May 14th (10am-1pm), to participate in the seventh of eight Senior Saturday events. You will be able to partake in a music therapy class, play with dogs, listen to a live rondalla performance, and access resources for transportation assistance, adult education, volunteer opportunities, and more!
Thank you in advance to our partners from Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation (FACT), MusicWorx, County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, National City Adult School, the San Diego Foundation, and the City of National City’s Community Services Department.
These events are free for all residents to come together for a wide variety of activities geared towards senior interests and abilities. You do not need to reside in National City to attend Senior Saturday.

Circulate San Diego’s annual momentum awards are scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 2022. We are excited to head back to the Natural History Museum and recognize the people and projects in the San Diego region that are improving our quality of life.

SDAPA YEP + San Diego APBP have joined forces to bring you a trivia night for all the planner(d)s across the region. Participants will play in teams to compete and solve planning-related questions. Are you ready to test your knowledge!?

This week Circulate’s Executive Director & General Counsel, Colin Parent joined Assemblymember Laura Friedman, UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs Urban Planning Professor Adam Millard-Ball, and Innovative Housing Opportunities President & CEO Rochelle Mills to discuss state-wide parking reform as part of the Housing Equity and Community Series. Specifically SB 2097 (Friedman) will allow transit-oriented development to opt-out of parking minimums, encouraging more affordable housing to be built and reducing vehicle miles traveled.

Thanks for joining our Spring Book Talk with Dr. Jenny Schuetz
On Tuesday, Circulate joined the San Diego Regional Policy & Innovation to host a book talk the Dr. Jenny Schuetz, the author of Fixer-Upper: How to Repair America’s Broken Housing Systems.
Dr. Schuetz, a senior fellow at Brookings Metro, outlined the structural problems within US housing systems that contribute to widely disparate outcomes. As Dr. Schuetz explained, unequal housing systems didn’t just emerge from natural economic and social forces. But, it was public policies enacted by federal, state, and local governments that created the bad housing outcomes we are now experiencing.
Is there a way out of our housing crisis? Yes! Dr. Schuetz outlined practical policy changes than can make stable, decent-quality housing more available and affordable for all Americans in all communities. Her housing policy reforms are essential to get folks in homes, and are vital to meet climate action goals.
Dr. Shuetz called us to action to join groups, like Circulate, advocating for important land use reform.
