Angelica’s Appointment to Coronado Mobility Commission
Our Associate Planner, Angelica Rocha, was recently appointed to the Coronado Mobility Commission by the Coronado City Council.
The Commission is charged with implementing the Active Transportation Master Plan, developing a traffic calming plan, assisting City staff in researching, planning, and implementing complete streets, sustainable streets, and vision zero concepts, and integrating emerging technologies, such as autonomous and electric vehicles, into the City's transportation network.
Congratulations Angelica!
Circulate Success with Vision Zero at SANDAG
On April 5, Circulate and its coalition partners submitted a letter to the SANDAG board of directors urging SANDAG to adopt Vision Zero as a part of the Regional Plan. Then at the SANDAG board meeting on April 9, SANDAG Board Chair Catherine Blakespear opened the meeting by mentioning Circulate’s letter and promising to include Vision Zero in the Regional Plan.
“Vision Zero is . . . being considered in the development of the Regional Plan as a top priority, so it’s really the core of our mobility goals,” said Chair Blakespear. “It will be an important part of our discussion when we’re talking about the regional plan.”
This quick victory is a testament to the advocacy of the entire coalition. Circulate remains in conversation with SANDAG about implementing Vision Zero in the Regional Plan.
Crash Not Accident Crash Site Memorial
A pedestrian was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on April 11, 2021 in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of the City of San Diego. According to the San Diego Police Department’s Watch Commander’s Log, at around 10:00 p.m., the woman was in the crosswalk on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when she was struck and killed by the driver.
Circulate San Diego installed a crash site memorial sign for the victim through our Crash Not Accident. For more information, click HERE!
