Circulate San Diego Releases Vision Zero Report for East County
Circulate San Diego was joined by East County elected leaders and safe street supporters on Tuesday to release a report detailing how East County cities can save lives by implementing Vision Zero strategies.
Circulate’s new report, “Vision Zero in East County: Eliminating Traffic Deaths in East County San Diego,” includes recommendations for how the East County cities of El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, and Santee can prevent traffic fatalities and serious injuries on their streets. Crash data includes intersections and corridors with highest number of bicycle and pedestrian crashes and total crashes and deaths annually for each city from 2008 to 2018.

Circulate San Diego Report Released on the Regional Impact of Specialized Transportation Provider FACT
Last week, Circulate San Diego released a report on the impact of Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation (FACT) in the San Diego Region. FACT is a cost-effective specialized transportation provider that fills transportation gaps through their dial-a-ride service, RideFACT.
“Leveraging FACT: Impact of Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation (FACT) in the San Diego Region” analyzes demographic and geographic data from FACT’s service over the course of one year to identify what San Diego communities are in need of specialized transportation. Circulate’s analysis shows:
- FACT’s customer base self-identify as people with disabilities, almost equally split between low income and not low income people, and mostly 60 years old or older.
- Most trips provided by RideFACT are for medical purposes, at a combined 60 percent of all documented trips. Social trips are the second most common purpose.
- RideFACT is able to provide trips at well below the national average cost per trip for similar programs.
- RideFACT is the only subsidized transportation service for seniors and people with disabilities operating Countywide, including the 18 Cities.

Support Protected Bike Lanes in Encinitas – 9/25
On Wednesday, September 25th, the Encinitas City Council will be voting on proposed protected bike lanes on Coast Highway 101 through Cardiff. By upgrading the existing bike lanes, the City of Encinitas will demonstrate its leadership on safety and climate action, but it needs your support first.

The event was held poolside at the Civita Residential Center in Mission Valley and was extra special for Circulate as we celebrated the release of our Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation (FACT) Report.

IntraConnect Community Feedback on Walking and Biking Improvements
The City of National City hosted their quarterly breakfast at the Martin Luther King Community Center on Saturday September 14th. Almost 100 residents attended and heard Circulate San Diego’s presentation about the IntraConnect project process and next steps for the project. Circulate also set up a digital kiosk for residents to provide feedback on priority walking and biking improvements in their neighborhoods.
Next steps for the project include final prioritization of improvements and presentations to City Council and Planning Commission.
