Congressman Peters introduces a new TOD bill in Congress with input from Circulate San Diego

On Tuesday October 8th, Circulate San Diego staff joined Congressman Scott Peters to announce the introduction of his Build More Housing Near Transit Act. The bill will require that federal transit investments consider how local governments are prepared to allow new market-rate and affordable homes near transit.

Circulate advised the Congressman’s office on the bill language. We were given a “shout-out” during the press conference for our contributions, which was included in the San Diego Union Tribune. The press conference was also covered by the Times of San Diego and KUSI, among other outlets.

What’s Out There Weekend Free Walking Tours

The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) is hosting What’s Out There Weekend San Diego on October 26-27, 2019.

The weekend includes a series of two dozen expert-led tours that will highlight the region's landscape legacy and cultural heritage, including gardens, campuses, plazas, public parks, and cultural institutions. These tours enable people to discover the relevance and design history of places they see every day but often overlook. Tour guides share rich stories, personal anecdotes, and keen observations while providing behind-the-scenes expertise of landscape architecture and city shaping.

TCLF is producing an online What’s Out There San Diego guide, along with a printed guidebook that is available for purchase. What’s Out There Weekend is an extension of the online What’s Out There database, a comprehensive resource with more than 2,000 sites, 11,000 images, and 1,100 designer profiles.

Register now. The tours are FREE, but space is limited.

Come say hi at CicloSDias 2019!

CicloSDias is coming soon on Sunday, October 27th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This is San Diego's only free Open Street Event that closes streets to cars and opens them to people on foot, bike, scooter, skateboard, etc. So, grab your wheels and come help us create a healthy, sustainable, and vibrant city street experience.

Circulate SD will be on the City Heights side of the route at Adams Avenue & Vista St. Stop by for some "spooky" bike and scooter activities. Costumes are encouraged! See here for more information on the route.

If you’re interested in volunteering, contact the San Diego Bicycle Coalition at [email protected].
