Join Us Next Sunday for World Day of Remembrance

On November 15, Circulate will join Families for Safe Streets San Diego for World Day of Remembrance, a day to honor people impacted by traffic violence.

We will gather to honor the lives of the 1,343 people killed or seriously injured by traffic violence in San Diego County in 2025.

We will gather at Grant Park at 9:30 am to remember, hear from elected officials, and hang memorial signs in honor of impacted individuals.

Vision Zero Coalition Budget Priorities

The Vision Zero Coalition has announced its budget priorities for fiscal year (FY) 2028! Each year, we urge the San Diego Mayor and City Council to fund a series of budget requests to advance street safety. This year we are asking the City to:

  1. Fix the Fatal 15, the 15 deadliest intersections in the city;
  2. Make school streets safer; and
  3. Invest in dedicated safety staffing at the transportation department.

Traffic violence is preventable through sustained investment in safer streets. These requests will help the city to continue to make forward progress towards Vision Zero.

Report from the Progress Conference

Last month, Circulate’s CEO and General Counsel attended the third annual Progress Conference, hosted by the Roots of Progress Institute.

The basic idea of Progress is that we can improve human welfare through growing our knowledge, economic output, and capital investment. Tyler Cowen and Patrick Collison helped launch the movement in The Atlantic in 2019. Jason Crawford has a more comprehensive “manifesto” on the subject.

Colin wrote about his experience, and how more homes and transit fit into the abundance and progress movements.

California’s Housing Leaders Gather in San Diego

Circulate was proud to help host the 6th Annual California Home Building Alliance (HBA) Fall Retreat in San Diego. Housing advocates, industry leaders, and policymakers from across California gathered at the Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay for a day-long retreat focused on building relationships and advancing solutions to our state’s housing challenges.

The fun didn’t stop there. After the retreat, attendees unwound at a beachfront happy hour, made possible by our Happy Hour Sponsor, H.G. Fenton Company. Guests also headed south of the border for a Tijuana taco tour, rounding out a lineup that included a golf outing and welcome dinner.

A huge thank-you to our HBA Statewide Retreat Sponsors: Brownstein, California Council for Affordable Housing, California Rental Housing Association (CalRHA), California Strategies, California YIMBY, California Building Industry Association, Circulate Planning & Policy, Fieldstead and Co., Housing Action Coalition, H.G. Fenton Company, Inner City Law Center, San Diego Housing Commission, and SPUR. Your support made this year’s gathering possible! Stay tuned as we head into 2027 to advance pro-housing legislation across California.

Join our family friendly ride to advocate for a Bike Lane on Governor Dr. in UC this Sunday at 3PM!

The city is funding repaving work all down the west end of Governor Dr. in University City but is refusing to fund the bike lane as laid out in the University Community Plan.

Come help us show the city that we want them to keep their word and add bike lanes when repaving a road with a family friendly bike ride. Helmets required. Bike decorations for all kids who had adults RSVP.

Meet at west end of Governor Dr. at 3PM. We’ll ride together to Standley park and decorate our bikes.

More ways to advocate here.

Vision Zero Cities Conference Recap

Last week, Circulate’s Policy Manager Aria traveled to New York to attend the Vision Zero Cities Conference. She got to meet people from all over the world working to make their cities safer!

Circulate Team Member Meets the His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama!

Last month, Davida Garcia was invited on a spiritual pilgrimage to meet His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, India!

She spent 5 days learning about Buddhist traditions, ate vegan food and chanted with high monks in the mountains. On the last day she was blessed by the Dalai Lama.

She tried to bring in Circulate swag but security was top notch and was not allowed to bring anything…they even patted her hair down but needless to say it was a trip of a lifetime!
