On Wednesday, December 6, Circulate San Diego, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Building Industry Association’s y|GEN co-hosted a panel and discussion on how residents of the City of San Diego can serve on their local community planning groups (CPGs).

The panel, moderated by Sean Karafin of the Chamber of Commerce, included Nancy Grahm, Senior Planner with the City of San Diego, Oscar Medina, Golden Hill CPG member, and Sarah Jarman, who works in Councilmember Scott Sherman's office. Panelists spoke about the role of community planning groups, the value in serving on one, and gave tips on how to get elected.

Much of the discussion was driven by questions from the audience. The need for younger representation on CPGs was a constant theme throughout the night, with panelists reiterating several times the importance young people joining their CPGs.
