Farewell Spotlight: Vince Young
In keeping with our tradition, we ask our team members to share a few last words about the great work they have done and their experience with us.
What was your title: Planning and Policy Fellow
Tell us a bit about your time at Circulate (planning, policy, roles, how long).
As the summer Planning and Policy Fellow, I primarily supported research into the effects of California’s density bonus law. Specifically, I looked into the characteristics (unit count, affordability levels, etc.) of housing projects approved in the last few years.
What was your favorite part of working at Circulate?
I greatly enjoyed working with the collegial and passionate group at Circulate. It was really interesting learning about all the different planning and advocacy initiatives this organization is involved in all around the state.
What are your favorite projects or accomplishments from your time at Circulate?
It was really rewarding to research and produce additional evidence to demonstrate Bonus Law’s efficacy in addressing the California housing crisis. I’m very excited for the publication of this data in Circulate’s second report on bonus law... keep your eyes peeled for it!
What are you doing next, and what are your career plans?(200 words max)
I’ll be returning to the east coast to finish up my masters in city planning at MIT. After graduating, I hope to return to the San Diego area and continue to work on land use regulations and housing affordability issues!
