Intro Spotlight: Kim Kantrud

In keeping with our tradition of interviewing new team members, we asked our new Assistant Planner, Kim Kantrud, a few questions so that you all can get to know her!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m Kim and it is so nice to be here! I spent my youth in western North Dakota and quickly ventured off to big city life. After several years in Minneapolis, the itch for a new adventure was building and in 2011 I escaped the winter for sunny San Diego. Here, I fell in love with my community and ignited a passion for creating diverse walkable neighborhoods.

How did you become interested in Circulate San Diego?

Circulate San Diego came to my attention from my studies at SDSU. Through an internship in the program, I was able to admire the organization’s passion for the betterment of our communities and creation of a sustainable future. I was intrigued by the organization and its projects and was sure to keep Circulate San Diego on my radar. I am excited to be a part of the team!

What’s your most memorable face palm moment? Or what is your biggest achievement to date? Choose one.

I once unknowingly called 911 and alerted my emergency contacts while using an elliptical machine. That’s how I learned about the iPhone’s emergency SOS feature.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?

Farmer Bill Tall of City Farmers Nursery or Senator Jim Mills.
