Circulate Planning & Policy is excited to partner with UC San Diego for an intimate evening with award-winning public space practitioner, researcher, and authorJay Pitter, celebrating the release of her latest book, Black Public Joy.
Black Public Joy explores the histories, traditions, and contemporary expressions of Black joy in public spaces. Through stories of community, culture, and design, Pitter shifts the conversation from harm toward collective flourishing, highlighting the importance of public spaces where everyone can experience joy, dignity, and belonging.
The book has already received national recognition, including a feature on the Forbes Summer Reading List and a spot on the 2026 Toronto Book Awards longlist.
