Keeler Court Educational Programming

Starting in 2022, Circulate San Diego began an exciting collaboration with Community HousingWorks (CHW) and their Keeler Court community. Through funds provided by the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program (AHSC), the project offered Keeler Court residents innovative multimodal transportation programming.

As part of this initiative, residents embarked on engaging field trips, utilizing various transportation modes such as public transit, electric scooters, walking, and biking. Circulate Staff worked to equip residents with new skills, enabling them to access community resources and leisure activities independently, reducing reliance on cars. The result of these efforts was a more integrated community where residents gained the knowledge to navigate the area autonomously.

At the center of the project was a series of transit field trips conducted with Keeler Court residents. These trips served to promote Keeler Court’s free monthly PRONTO pass program and fostered residents' comfort with utilizing public transit in San Diego. Notable destinations during these excursions included San Diego State University, a Padre game at Petco Park, and the Living Coast Discovery Center. Both Circulate and the Keeler Court residents thoroughly enjoyed planning and participating in these trips, capturing memorable moments that can be viewed in our trip photo gallery. Check out our Keeler Court Transit Handbook here

Additionally, Keeler Court earned Circulate’s Mobility Certification recognizing its commitment to sustainable transportation improvements that align with community plan goals. Keeler Court not only enhances the mobility of folks living on the property, but fosters a healthier lifestyle for all residents in the Southcrest community. Learn more about our Mobility Certification.
