Circulate San Diego submitted a letter in support of AB 117, which will provide incentives to Californians who purchase electric bicycles. Electric bicycles remove barriers to bicycling, especially for people who are less active, live in hilly areas, or have to travel over longer distances. In addition, electric bicycles enhance Californians’ ability to live car-free, saving them money and eliminating the need for creation of costly parking spaces. With transportation accounting for over 40% of California’s greenhouse gas emissions, this bill provides a much-needed component to a broader solution.
