Circulate San Diego submitted a letter in support of SANDAG's Carlsbad Village Trench Project application. The Project will construct 1.1 total miles of grade-separated double track on the Los Angeles, San Diego, San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor in the City of Carlsbad, linking to existing double-track on both sides by replacing the aging single-track Buena Vista Lagoon Bridge with a new double-track rail bridge and lowering the railroad tracks below street level into a double-track trench through the downtown Village and Barrio neighborhoods. The Project will also reconstruct the Carlsbad Village Station within the trench. Once complete, the Project will increase operational flexibility, service capacity, safety, resiliency, and connectivity while reducing congestion, delays, incidents, and greenhouse gas emissions across the entire LOSSAN Corridor.
