MOVE Alliance Certified Town and Country Project Approved at City Council

SAN DIEGO (March 21, 2018) – The San Diego City Council approved the Town and Country project yesterday, a sustainable, infill, transit-oriented development project with important bicycle and pedestrian features. The Lowe Enterprises project earned the MOVE Alliance certification, a program that certifies smart growth projects in San Diego that is operated by Circulate San Diego.

Located in Mission Valley along the San Diego River and adjacent to the MTS Fashion Valley Transit Center, Town a Country incorporates many smart growth attributes and sustainable design principles to take advantage of a key infill development opportunity. The planned 840 dwelling units are within a three- to five-minute walk of the adjacent transit and nearby employment centers.

Town and Country not only provides a vibrant mixed-use infill project that adds to the area’s housing stock, but it will also do so, next to the San Diego River, improving conditions for protected habitats.

“It’s great to see Town and Country moving forward thanks to San Diego City Council’s support for our shared commitment to smart growth,” said Colin Parent, Executive Director and General Counsel at Circulate San Diego. “Town and Country helps San Diego reach its Climate Action Plan goals by enhancing connections to the Fashion Valley Transit Center and incorporating intensive bicycle and pedestrian facilities throughout the site.”

About the MOVE Alliance

The MOVE Alliance was formed in 2012 to provide certification for transit-oriented, smart growth projects in the San Diego region. MOVE Alliance members consist of local experts in smart growth planning and sustainable transit oriented development disciplines, including planners, developers, urban designers, and transportation engineers. By recognizing and supporting projects which meet the MOVE Alliance criteria, we can help to create complete communities, one project at a time.
