Special Guest: Assemblymember Chris Ward & Tom Steyer

Assemblymember Chris Ward
Assemblymember Chris Ward represents San Diego and El Cajon in California’s 78th Assembly District and is currently a candidate for reelection to the State Assembly*. First elected in 2020, he chairs the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism Committee and the Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, and leads the Select Committee on Biotechnology and Medical Technology. His work focuses on housing, homelessness, climate action, and public safety, with authored legislation on community solar, ghost guns, and behavioral health. Ward previously served on the San Diego City Council and as Chief of Staff to Senator Marty Block. He holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Harvard’s Kennedy School and lives in University Heights with his family.
Tom Steyer
Tom Steyer is a philanthropist, climate advocate, and business leader who is currently running for Governor of California*. After founding and leading a successful investment firm, Tom stepped away from the business world nearly 15 years ago to focus full-time on public service and philanthropy. He was among the first signers of The Giving Pledge, committing to give away the majority of his wealth during his lifetime. In California, he has led and supported major ballot initiatives that took on Big Oil and Big Tobacco, closed corporate tax loopholes, and generated billions of dollars for public schools and healthcare, all while advancing long-term investments in climate action and economic opportunity.
