Work Anniversary Spotlight - Carlisle Dockery

Name: Carlisle Dockery

How many years have your worked for Circulate and what is your title?

I joined Circulate in October of 2021. My current title is Director of Planning & Community Engagement.

Describe what your day to day tasks look like?

My day-to-day tasks depend on the season, typically. For some parts of the year, my days may consist entirely of preparing proposal packages for RFPs and grant opportunities. Other days have more project administration work and I’ll often be leading regular project check-in meetings, reviewing project deliverables, managing budgets, or preparing invoices. And then of course I do still get to spend some time out in the field! I am one of two LCIs on staff (shoutout Leslie) so that often means I get to do the bike-related activities like leading bike rides, teaching bike skills courses, or supporting bike buses.

During this time, what’s your most memorable face palm moment? Or what is your biggest achievement to date? Choose one.

I am very proud of the creative crosswalk program our team has been able to implement at San Diego State University alongside their Transportation Services department. What started as a large red-and-black SDSU intersection mural designed internally in 2023 has blossomed into a recurring partnership with student artists on campus – which has allowed us to paint five more creative crosswalks since then! You can check out the results on our website here.

What are you excited for about the future?

I’ve been working on a county-wide Vision Zero report for the past year that will get released in the next few months. I’m really excited for everyone to be able to see the data and recommendations that will be included in that report, and for it to hopefully turn into something that’s updated regularly.
