At Circulate San Diego, we believe that everyone should be able to afford to live and work in our community. That’s why we advocate for more home production, and for affordable homes.
Last year we championed a bonus program at the City of San Diego to encourage more developers to include deed-restricted affordable homes, in exchange for allowing the construction of more market-rate homes. The policy was adopted, and we published research a few months ago showing that it’s working.
Our efforts are leading to a more affordable San Diego. Our work is creating more opportunities for low and middle income families to get a fair shot at life in San Diego.
For the last two years, Circulate San Diego has championed fixes to the Compass Card, the region’s transit fare payment system. This summer, we won a huge victory, implementing stored value on every Compass Card. Now people can access transit whenever they want, without having exact change, or an expensive monthly fare card.
Can you help support our advocacy to create more victories like the Compass Card win?
San Diego needs more funding for public transportation, but we also need better land uses to allow more people to live and work near our existing public transportation network. That’s why we have published reports showing how San Diego can improve transit oriented development, to make it cheaper and easier to build both homes and locations for jobs.
Circulate San Diego is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your end-of-year contribution will entitle you to a tax deduction.
