Transit Permitting Reform Round Table: Lessons and Challenges from Italy, California, and Washington State

Circulate CEO and General Counsel Colin Parent will be speaking on a panel about transit permitting reform, hosted by the Metropolitan Abundance Project.

Transit permitting got you down? Is your region trying to build world-class transit infrastructure – but stuck navigating endless local permitting, third-party demands, and opaque review processes? Join leading researchers, advocates, and policy thinkers for a conversation on why transit permitting in the U.S. is so broken – and model reforms that could fix it.

  • Marco Chitti, NYU’s Transit Costs Project, will share about Italy’s “Conference of the Parties” transit construction permitting model
  • Kirk Hovenkotter, Transportation Choices Coalition, will discuss permitting barriers facing Sound Transit’s light rail build-out and state legislation moving through Washington

MTS Fare Change Survey

MTS is facing a budget gap, and is considering proposals to modify fares and service levels to address this shortfall. This decision has the potential to significantly impact the quality of transit service in San Diego.

Time and time again, surveys show that transit riders favor fare increases over service reductions. MTS is currently seeking feedback on its fare change proposals.

SDSU Mission Valley River Park

Looking for the perfect outdoor spot for your next event or gathering?

The SDSU Mission Valley river park offers a variety of spaces served by best-inclass active transportation opportunities, steps away from the newly renovated trolley plaza at MTS Stadium Station on the Green Line.

To meet the needs of both cyclists and pedestrians, SDSU Mission Valley is encircled by a 2-mile hike and bike loop and is also constructing several off-site City of San Diego bike lane projects to complete the bikeway between SDSU and the Mission Valley property, including a total of 1.5 miles of dedicated bike lanes.

Unlike most public parks, the SDSU Mission Valley river park operates without any taxpayer subsidy.
