This audit was coordinated with J. Calvin Lauderbach Elementary School. This audit was hosted on March 7, 2025 and had a group of 25 people. The pedestrian audit was attended by Circulate San Diego, 6th Grade Lauderbach Elementary students, and staff from Lauderbach Elementary.
Lauderbach Elementary is located near Lauderbach Park in the Castle Park neighborhood of Chula Vista. The audit route took place along: Palomar Street, First Avenue, Third Avenue, and Oxford Street. Between 2019-2023, there were 15 pedestrian injuries and 3 bicyclist injuries within a quarter mile of the walking route. On September 18th, 2018, 44-year-old Eduardo Garduno was struck and killed while biking through the intersection of Palomar Street and Second Avenue at 10:22pm.
