This pedestrian audit was conducted in coordination with UCSD's Young Planner Society. This audit was hosted on April 10, 2026 and had a group of 10 people. The group included Circulate Planning & Policy, Young Planners Society UCSD, and interested participants.
The audit route took place along: North Torrey Pines Road, Exploration Drive, and Northpoint Driveway. Between 2020-2024, there were three bicyclists injured within a quarter mile of the route and one pedestrian injury. On October 5, 2024, a 26-year-old male cyclist was struck by a driver at the intersection of Torrey Pines Road and Torrey Pines Scenic Drive. While conducting the audit, a participant, Arianna Gutierrez, noted their experience on North Torrey Pines Road and how they sprained their ankle while walking on the east side of North Torrey Pines Road between Exploration Drive and Pangea Drive a year ago.
